This past weekend my boyfriend Alex and I went to Art Of Fashion on behalf of @stylefauxpas to meet and greet with stylists and take in the evenings experiences! I know this entry is a bit late but things have been busy and we've all been getting sick!
We arrived at 7:30, where we were met with brimming faces excited to give us our media passes and free gift bags! We went upstairs to a world of fashion art that was chic and not entirely what we anticipated!
Designer Corinne Monique had her models on display while playing and posing with instruments. And let me tell you, those girls could ROCK those instruments! They were amazing!
The jewelry booths sat in the center as the models and clothing spun outward on the outside, kind of like the beads were the center of a fashion solar system (below, Laboured Designs).
The models went in shifts throughout the room, sporting outfits from each of the ten featured designers. Most of the designers were pulling from the early 19th century, and some incorporated styles from the 1920's flapper-style, blending elegance and fun!
Each of the artists had their work displayed on live models sitting in a designed space as well, which created imaginary environments that were both beautiful and alluring.
Dang it how do I turn images vertically!? This was my favourite shot of the night, so I couldn't NOT include it! It's from the set of work from Amber Watkins (my personal favourite series from the night).
I love going to events and taking "spy-style" photos, but maybe it's part of my shy demeanor. Not sure!
Also, the charming Stephanie Mahssergjizn aka Stema (dammit Steph, they misspelled your name, I'm sorry if this is also wrong or even more sorely wrong!), was occupied all night. Just before we left we went back and talked to her about her work. Everything was hand-sewn, and she was so sweet!
I hope you all enjoyed our look into the Art Of Fashion event! It was a lot of fun!
Until Next Time Fashionistas - you will probably hear from us around Toronto Fashion Week! Or sooner! I am not a time-teller of the futures!!!! Plus, Doc Brown has not been returning my calls...
